Owens Corning Reinforcement Test and Report Boundaries

Separate textile acceptance, process control, laminate coupons and finished-component evidence.

Claim boundaries

Textile basis weight

State method, specimen area, conditioning, nominal value and tolerance. Areal weight does not establish fiber volume, laminate thickness or mechanical performance.

Fiber and sizing

Identify glass type, yarn or tow, sizing compatibility, moisture or loss-on-ignition method where applicable. Resin wet-out and interface depend on the actual system.

Laminate properties

Record reinforcement stack, resin, process, cure, fiber volume, voids, thickness, coupon orientation and method. Values belong to that manufactured laminate.

Prepreg handling

Track resin content, storage, shelf life, thaw, out-time, tack and cure. An expired or mishandled prepreg requires disposition, not assumption.

Report and compliance scope

Test reports identify issuing laboratory, method version, specimen, orientation, conditioning, repetitions, result, failure mode and date. Supplier declarations and certifications identify covered entity, product or process, validity and destination relevance.

ISO quality systems, material declarations, construction codes and regulatory requirements describe different evidence types. They are not interchangeable product certifications, and none replaces engineering design or component qualification.

If a report covers another sizing, fabric architecture, resin, cure or manufacturing process, applicability is reviewed. Missing evidence stays open rather than being generated from a brand name.

Directional properties require clear 0°, 90° or off-axis definitions. Specimen cutting, tabs, thickness, strain measurement and failure mode influence interpretation. A value without orientation and manufacturing history is incomplete.

Aging methods state heat, moisture, chemical, UV, fatigue or storage exposure. Prepreg out-time and cure history are part of identity; infused laminate resin, vacuum, flow and void content may also be relevant. Reports identify the decision and responsible reviewer.
